Rana Durra
Vice President
Investment Banking



Ms. Durra joined HC in 1997 and is currently serving as Vice President. She is responsible for sourcing and executing investment banking deals. As team head of the F&B, FMCG and Retail Group at HC Investment Banking, she successfully completed several M&A transactions, most notably: Advising Almarai on the acquisition of International Company for Agro-Industrial Projects “Beyti”, and Advising Marico on the acquisition of HairCode. In addition to other Corporate Finance Advisory on AlCharq Insurance Company, Alexandria National Iron & Steel, Omar Effendi, and Quena Paper Industries. In 2003, Ms. Durra joined United Capital Group, the private equity arm of The Sultan Group in Kuwait, where she was able to successfully complete a major acquisition transaction of the retail chain Safeway in Jordan. Ms. Durra holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from The American University in Cairo (AUC).


Mahmoud Selim
Executive Director

Mr. Selim joined HC in July 2005, currently serving as Vice President. Prior to joining HC, Selim was a credit analyst in HSBC Bank Egypt for 3 years. Selim Participated in several equity and M&A transactions in the Banking , Pharmaceuticals, Food and Beverage and FMCG sectors whereas he was responsible for the origination and execution of several transactions among which: Advising the U.S. private equity “Ripplewood” on the acquisition of an 18% stake in the Commercial International Bank (CIB). Advising the shareholders of Fiancée (a local hair care manufacturer) on the sale of 100% of the company’s shares to Marico. Advising Minapharm Pharmaceuticals on a private placement to the Danish private equity “BankInvest”. Advising Housing and development bank on a secondary public equity offering. Selim received his MBA with a concentration in Finance from The American University in Cairo in June 2005 and graduated from the Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University in August 1998.


Baher Abdelmalek
Vice President
Investment Banking



Mr. Abdelmalek Joined HC in late 2004. He led and participated in the origination and execution of various M&A, capital markets, and corporate finance advisory assignments, spanning the construction materials, chemicals & petrochemicals, telecom, and oil & gas industries. He managed and coordinated successfully consummated transactions with an aggregate value exceeding USD 900 MM, most notably amongst them: advising ASEC Group shareholders on selling a majority stake to Citadel Capital, advising ASEC Cement on its 30% secondary offering on CASE (now EGX), advising Citadel Capital on the valuation analysis for the acquisition of Egyptian Fertilizers Company (EFC), and advising Kandil Steel on their acquisition of a majority stake in El Obour Metallurgical Industries (Galvametal). Prior to joining HC, Mr. Abdelmalek worked for Picorp Holding as a Technical Analyst where he helped study and plan for the establishment of several new industrial manufacturing facilities. He received his Masters in Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University, and his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the American University in Cairo.
