  • Assistant Vice President
    Full Time Offer

    Department:: Investment Banking
    Role Purpose:
    Investment Banking Assistant Vice President is a mid-level executive at HC-IBD working closely with and reporting directly to their direct supervisors. AVPs role is a mix of deal sourcing, execution, and management of Associates at the firm. The balance will vary over time, but will always include a heavy component of outbound prospecting and transaction processing. The primary role of the Assistant Vice President is to be the “project manager,” whether for marketing activities or on a transaction. According to their assigned sector coverage, AVPs set sector strategies and continuously identify new opportunities/potential clients for the firm. AVPs maintain the department’s business relationships and are responsible for expanding and nurturing those relationships because they are able to articulate the firm’s views and sell its products and services effectively. It is the AVP that typically decides the structure (usually the Table of Contents or “TOC”) of the presentation (e.g. a pitchbook), personally originates the framework for financial models/presentations and provides Associates/Analysts with guidance in any given matter. AVPs assign Associates and Analysts specific tasks to complete, set project deadlines, monitor the production of documents/financial models; coordinate with management, clients and third parties to diligently deliver the firm’s services. In some cases and as requested by his/her direct supervisor, AVPs are expected to have a hands-on approach regarding assignments. It is at the AVP level that valuable relationships with clients are formed.
    Accountabilities:
    1. In-depth knowledge of coverage sectors, its trends and the overall economic outlook
    2. In-depth knowledge of the different Investment Banking products
    3. Set sector strategy and continuously identify new opportunities/clients to pursue in coordination and supervision of the Vice President
    4. Supporting Vice Presidents in marketing the firm’s services, making sound judgment, and supervising execution teams
    5. Maintain and grow the firm’s business relationships in order to initiate new transactions and expand the firm’s reach and breadth of services. Communicate with clients to make sure their expectations are met and their transactions close successfully
    6. Managing assignments from start to finish – coordinating between management, clients, colleagues and third parties. Sets project deadlines and guarantees highest quality of work output in terms of professionalism and accuracy
    7. Utilize vast knowledge of financial and accounting principles to assess company performance
    8. Provide corrective timely valuable feedback to the execution teams
    9. Originate financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis and also oversee the production of working documents for specific transactions and internal administrative purposes
    10. AVPs are accountable for the internal management of a transaction as well as the external management – ensuring customer satisfaction through successful deal execution
    11. Adhering to firm policies, treating colleagues with respect, showing emotional maturity and upholding high ethical standards
    12. Knows the formal and informal department goals, standards, policies and procedures communicated by senior management and communicates them to other members of the department
    13. Provide rapid and accurate market judgments to colleagues and clients
    14. Supervising the work of the execution team and acting as a mentor and role model to subordinates
    Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
    1. A minimum of: undergraduate degree and post graduate degree: MBA, MSC (Finance) or CFA from top class leading universities PLUS 2 years of relevant experience OR 7 years of relevant experience

    Full Time Offer

    Role Purpose:
    Investment Banking Associates are mid-level executives at HC-IBD working closely with and reporting directly to their direct supervisors. Associates will be involved in every aspect of the transaction, as decided by his/her VP, and will be working on a variety of products and industries. Associates work on the transaction typically start with understanding the nuances of clients’ needs, exploring ideas, conducting analyses, developing strategy and offering advice and counsel at every step of the execution. Associates are mainly responsible for the day-to-day execution of assignments. The Associates primary role within a transaction is to ensure a perfect understanding and execution of the deal. Associates also support his/her direct supervisors by offering all the necessary tasks to ensure successful business development performance. Associates should spend a significant amount of their time training Analysts, raising the quality of output, and following up with clients.
    Accountabilities:
    1. Managing and coordinating day-to-day execution of assignments
    2. Coordinating with other members of the HC-IBD team and third parties to diligently deliver the transaction execution work
    3. Communicating with clients to make sure transaction execution processes are running as per set schedules and quality standards
    4. Preparation of financial, strategic, and operational analysis of companies and industries
    5. Preparation of valuations
    6. Preparation of various marketing documentation and presentations. Delivering internal and client presentations in a clear and compelling manner
    7. Delegating to Analysts specific assignment tasks to complete, setting deadlines, and monitoring and assuring the highest quality and schedule adherence for the production of documents and financial models
    8. Having a hands-on approach regarding assignments through: personally originating the detailed outline for financial analyses, valuation, and documents, participating in writing and modeling, and providing Analysts with continuous detailed feedback from start to finish on any given task.
    9. Developing a broad-based exposure to products, services, and work practices in investment banking
    10. Supporting investment banking officers in the marketing of the Firm’s services
    11. Analyzing proposed transaction ideas and deal rationales
    12. Developing strong knowledge of relevant industries and providing insightful feedback to the team on it
    13. Contributing to team discussions and client meetings
    14. Providing rapid and accurate market judgments to colleagues and clients
    15. Train Analysts on all facets of their work and act as a mentor and role model to them
    16. Work closely with senior bankers and experts from HC Divisions
    17. Participate in various marketing and recruiting activities of the firm
